APPLICATION PROCESS
Every spring semester, we strive to find passionate and dedicated students who can lead the next generation of our club to success. If you are interested in gaining valuable leadership experience, we hope that you consider applying for an officer position. If you are selected for an officer position, you will serve from Fall 2024 through Spring 2025; please plan to be available on Mondays from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, which is when club meetings are typically held.

After this deadline, applicants will receive an email within 5 days notifying them whether or not they have been selected for an officer position. If you are selected, you will have another 3 days to respond to our email otherwise your officer position will be given to another applicant.

What qualities do you look for in an officer?
We are looking for officers who are passionate about being a part of our club and committed to fulfilling their duties.
I am completely new to the club. What are my chances of being elected for an officer position?
For the 2023-2024 school year, 5 out of 7 officers were completely new to the club and had never attended a meeting or club-hosted event.
Do I have to be an active member of the club to apply for officer position?
No. Anyone is welcome to apply for an officer position regardless of their prior involvement in the club.
Do I need to have the Counseling and Social Change minor in order to be an officer for the club?
No. For the 2023-2024 school year, half of the officers did not have the Counseling and Social Change minor.
Do I have to be a full-time student while I serve as an officer?

Is there a GPA requirement to be an officer?

Do I have to pay the one-time $35 membership fee before I apply to become an officer?
No. You are welcome to pay the membership fee any time during the fall semester of your officer term. However, the sooner you pay the fee, the better!
I haven't received a club shirt. If I become an officer, when will I get a shirt?
You will receive your club shirt after you pay the one-time $35 membership fee. Please email [email protected] or speak with our treasurer to find out how soon you can expect to receive your shirt.
When will I receive my stole and certificate for serving as an officer?
You should receive your stole and certificate in the spring semester of your officer term. Please speak with your fellow officers to ensure you receive your cord before your term is over.
If I already achieved active membership before I became an officer, does that mean I get two certificates?
Yes. You should receive a certificate for active membership and a certificate for your leadership service.
How many stoles will I get if I serve as an officer for more than one term (i.e. more than one school year)?
For every term you serve, you should receive a stole. So if you serve two terms, you should receive two stoles for graduation.
How many certificates of leadership service will I get if I serve as an officer for more than one term (i.e. more than one school year)?
For every term you serve, you should receive a certificate. So if you serve two terms, you should receive two certificates.
What is the difference between officer meetings and general body meetings?
General body meetings are open to the entire student body, faculty, and community members. These are the meetings that people attend to earn points toward active membership and get involved with the club. Officer meetings are open to officers and are meant to provide officers a chance to discuss plans for the school year.

OFFICER REQUIREMENTS & BENEFITS
Officer requirements:
- Pay the one-time $35 membership fee during the fall semester of your officer term, if not done so already prior to becoming an officer
- Commit to your officer position for a full school year (fall semester through spring semester)
- Commit 3 hours per week on your officer position
- 1 hour: Attending a club meeting that alternates between being officer meetings and general body meetings (Example: week 1 = officer meeting, week 2 = general body meeting, week 3 = officer meeting, week 4 = general body meeting)
- 2 hours: Communicating with your fellow officers outside of club meetings, participating in club-hosted events and club outreach events, and fulfilling your officer-specific duties
- Fulfill all duties within your officer position description

OFFICER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

President
- Complete all required president trainings, as designated by Student Life and Leadership (SLL)
- Ensure our club’s Recognized Student Organization (RSO) application is complete for the current school year as well as the following one
- In partnership with our club liaison from the Counseling and Social Change (CSC) minor peer advising team, coordinate the social justice symposium held in the spring semester
- Coordinate the officer election held in the spring semester
- Manage our club’s Gmail account and Google Drive
- Finalize the agenda for officer meetings and lead these meetings
- Provide additional needed support for the Counseling and Social Change (CSC) program graduation celebration whenever possible
Vice President
- Act as the president in case the president is unable to carry out presidential duties
- Ensure a room is reserved for general body meetings and officer meetings for the current school year as well as the following one
- In partnership with our club liaison from the Counseling and Social Change (CSC) minor peer advising team, coordinate the CSC program graduation celebration held in the spring semester
- Oversee the distribution of graduation materials to club members and officers
- Finalize the agenda for general body meetings and lead these meetings
- Provide additional needed support for the Counseling and Social Change Club (CSCC) social justice symposium whenever possible
Secretary
- Coordinate with the vice president to create Google Slides presentations for general body meetings
- Keep track of attendance during general body meetings
- Maintain an updated email list of students for sending out biweekly emails
- Update our club’s Google Calendar with details of general body meetings and club-hosted events
- Keep track of the points that each student earns
- Help with the planning of the Counseling and Social Change Club (CSCC) social justice symposium and whenever possible, provide additional needed support for the Counseling and Social Change (CSC) program graduation celebration
Treasurer
- Complete all required treasurer trainings, as designated by Student Life and Leadership (SLL)
- Order club shirts
- Order graduation materials for club members and officers
- Deposit paid membership fees into our club's Associated Students (AS) bank account
- Organize fundraisers for our club
- Maintain an updated, personal log of our club’s budget
- Help with the planning of the Counseling and Social Change Club (CSCC) social justice symposium and whenever possible, provide additional needed support for the Counseling and Social Change (CSC) program graduation celebration
Campus Relations Representative
- Attend College of Education Student Council (COESC) meetings, which are scheduled every semester according to attendee availability
- Assist the vice president with scheduling guest speakers from campus for general body meetings
- Assist the campus outreach coordinator from the Counseling and Social Change (CSC) minor peer advising team with organizing tabling events
- Help with the planning of the Counseling and Social Change Club (CSCC) social justice symposium and whenever possible, provide additional needed support for the CSC program graduation celebration
Community Relations Representative
- Assist the vice president with scheduling guest speakers from the community for general body meetings
- Organize events in the community for club members to participate in
- Find non-club-hosted events that club members can participate in for membership points
- Help with the planning of the Counseling and Social Change Club (CSCC) social justice symposium and whenever possible, provide additional needed support for the Counseling and Social Change (CSC) program graduation celebration
Historian
- Manage all of our club’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) and website (csccsdsu.weebly.com)
- Create flyers for all general body meetings (to be posted on social media) and club-hosted events (to be posted on social media, to be distributed as flyers in-person and/or to be posted around campus)
- Take photographs during general body meetings and during club-hosted events
- Create a slideshow presentation for the Counseling and Social Change (CSC) program graduation ceremony held in the spring semester
- Help with the planning of the Counseling and Social Change Club (CSCC) social justice symposium and whenever possible, provide additional needed support for the CSC program graduation celebration
